Featured Adoptables: Ralphie the Beagle

Update, 7/29/09: Ralphie’s been adopted!

I chose to feature Ralphie the beagle (from Overland Park-based Beagles and More Rescue) this week because he shares a name with my first-adopted boy, Ralphie the dachshund. Though they’re different breeds, they seem to have the same stubborn, ornery-looking face, as well.

That’s not to imply that ornery dogs aren’t totally awesome too, by the way.

Anyhow, back to Ralphie the beagle.

Meet Ralphie, He is small, sweet, loves to play. But wants a home where he can have you as his playmate or an older passive adult furkid. Ralphie does not like hyper activity throughout the home as it makes him nervous. But he will cuddle up with you on the couch anytime of the day and be as content as a lamb. Ralphie has come a LONG way since his rescue and deserves a chance at a loving, safe home!

If you’d like to adopt the Ralphster – or are interested in a beagle or another breed of dog (they are, after all, called “Beagles and More Rescue“), you can find the contact info for his peoples here.

Each Wednesday, the Kansas City Freecycle blog will feature one adoptable animal from a local KC rescue group or animal shelter.

We do this for several reasons:

- To highlight the plight of companion animals in the Kansas City area.

- To remind members of our no-animal policy, and provide an alternative venue for members who wish to adopt an unwanted animal.

- To encourage members to adopt a furry friend.

- To help out out local animal rescue groups and animal shelters, many of which are overwhelmed by the sheer number of animals in need.

- To illustrate these animals’ unique personalities and characteristics, thus underscoring the fact that they are not objects and should not be “freecycled”.
