Update, 6/10/09: Thelma and Louise have been adopted!
Thelma is the pretty blue and black girl on the right:
Thelma is a gorgeous little lady with the most beautiful song. She is mostly blue with white and black all over and just a hint of yellow on the tips of her wings and her brow. She is looking for a loving home and would love to go home with her friend Louise.
Thelma hasn’t been hand trained yet, but she is looking for a patient owner who will teach her how to enjoy being with people.
Louise, meanwhile, is looking nice and festive this Earth Day, what with her green and yellow feathers:
Louise is a beautiful girl with a lovely song. She is green and yellow with just a bit of black and white all over. She is looking for a new home, preferably with her good friend Thelma. Louise has not yet been hand trained and she’s hoping for an owner who will be patient with her and teach her how to enjoy being with people.
If you’re looking to bring a songbird into your home, why not consider adopting a feathered friend rather than purchasing one from a pet store? There are many winged animal companions in need of homes, too!

Update, 7/29/09: Leah has been adopted – total coolness!
Meet Miss Leah! She is a sweet talking stylin’ kind of kitty-cat. She likes to ‘sashay around’ and give some sweet little cat-chat to show off her stuff. She is full of personality!
Leah has limited vision (things a few feet away get a little blurry for her)) so we’re featuring her with some groovy shades. Her vet says that her vision is not a problem for her and won’t require any future vet procedures or care though!
Leah is still very young and we guess that she was born in early 2007. This petite charmer needs a home. She is soooo loving and gentle, that she is sure to fill your heart and home with LOUD purrs. She has the sweetest little chirp and she likes to chirp when she’s happy…it’s darling. Check out her video!
An application is required prior to visiting her at her foster home in Merriam. Just e-mail kittycityKS [at] aol.com or call 913-422-1911 and one will be e-mailed to you. Leah’s adoption fee is $65.00. She is spayed, vaccinated, tested and worm/flea treated. You will also receive a free wellness exam at one of our participating Vets.
Leah is anxious to meet you!
Kitty City Rescue has even uploaded a video of Leah, which you can view by visiting listing on Petfinder.

Update, 6/10/09: Abigail has been adopted! I hope you’re happy in your new home, lady.
Abigail is a strikingly beautiful cat. She is tall and lanky like a Siamese, but has the coloring of a calico even though her body is primarily white. She is a young, young adult at just a year or so old. She is very, very nice and seems fine with other cats. Abigail’s story is unusual but has a happy ending. She and her four 10-day old kittens were put in a carrier and left on a doorstep with a note saying that she was very sick. She wasn’t really sick but had obvious had some problems. After a thorough check up, lots of TLC, and a great place to raise her kittens, Abigail and all kittens are healthy, happy and ready for homes.
The charmingly named KattyShack
is an actual shelter, an open concept shelter where most cats and kittens are loose. Visitors can actually get acquainted with the cats, hold them, play with them, watch them interact with other cats and people. Most visitors spend an hour or so with the cats and kittens and really get to know them. Many times, the cat picks out its family!
KattyShacK is a 501(c)(3) , no-kill, limited intake cat rescue that always appreciates adoption referrals and donations!
Everything possible is done to find permanent, safe, and loving homes for the cats. Until adopted, the cats are well cared for (actually spoiled) –some cats stay for only days and some for years. And, we have a few feline retirees living at the KattyShack!
Adoption fees do not come close to covering veterinarian expenses or housing expenses for the cats. We desperately need donations to cover expenses. Donations of all sizes are greatly appreciated. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 74, Smithville, MO 64089.
Potential adopters are asked to complete and e-mail the adoption application that is on this site. There is a adoption fee required upon approval of an adoption application; the KattyShack has right of refusal on any and all applications. Depending upon the age of the kitten or cat, the adoption fee ranges from $65-$75. People aged 50 or above can adopt cats over five years of age for fee of $50.
You can see a full roster of the KattyShacks “guests” here.
