Featured Adoptables: Marvin the Orange Tabby II
January 21st, 2009 6:10 pm by Kelly G.Update, 4/8/09: Great news – Marvin has been adopted!

Prior to hitting Petfinder in search of this week’s Featured Adoptable, I went through the old posts in order to check for adoption updates. A few more cats and dogs have been adopted in the two weeks since I last checked, including Marvin, an orange tabby from Spay & Neuter Kansas City. He’d come to the group with his momma, Sabrina, and unfortunately the two weren’t adopted as a pair. Miss Sabrina is still available. Sad, but not uncommon.
Well, once I’d finished, I went on over to Petfinder, plugged in my search terms, and lo and behold! – found another Marvin, right there on the first page of the results! This new Marvin, Marvin II we’ll call him, looks like baby Marvin, but all grown up. Marvin II is a big boy, almost two years old.
Here’s what Blue Skye Adoptions in Olathe, KS has to say about him:
Marvin a big, solid, loving orange boy! He and his mother were abandoned in an apartment building when Marvin was a kitten, so he was somewhat lacking in social skills for awhile. Unfortunately, due to that, he didn’t get adopted when he was a cute little orange guy.
Now, he’s a cute BIG ORANGE GUY, and his social skills have greatly improved, although he’s still a bit wary around strangers and it would probably be best if Marvin was adopted by someone who has had cats before and understands thems.
Marvin has a dog-like personality. He greets you at the door when you come home, he does give love bites, he likes his tummy rubbed, but he has a tiny little baby kitten voice! He also has a carbohydrate addiction and no loaves of bread are really safe around him (especially at night)!
Marvin would be fine as an only cat, or with another cat.
Marvin’s birthdate is estimated at 2/18/07. Marvin’s adoption fee is $50.
All of our animals are spayed or neutered, up to date on shots and worming, tested for feline leukemia and treated for fleas and ear mites. They also come with a free well visit with one of our participating vets. We thank these vets for being such a valuable part of our adoption process!

Each Wednesday, the Kansas City Freecycle blog will feature one adoptable animal from a local KC rescue group or animal shelter.
We do this for several reasons:
- To highlight the plight of companion animals in the Kansas City area.
- To remind members of our no-animal policy, and provide an alternative venue for members who wish to adopt an unwanted animal.
- To encourage members to adopt a furry friend.
- To help out out local animal rescue groups and animal shelters, many of which are overwhelmed by the sheer number of animals in need.
- To illustrate these animals’ unique personalities and characteristics, thus underscoring the fact that they are not objects and should not be “freecycled”.
