Featured Adoptables: Cindy & Ella the Meeses!

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Update, 4/8/09: Oh, yays! Cindy and Ella have been adopted! Only bad news is, it wasn’t by me. (Oh, how I love mice! For serious. They’re adorable!)

Last August, I profiled Annie and Janie the RATS (!) for our Featured Adoptables column. That post has proven so popular (it’s consistently ranked as one of the most-viewed pages on the KCF blog, even after the girls were adopted), I’ve decided it’s time to turn the spotlight over to a new pair of adorable little rodents.

Enter Cindy and Ella the white mice! Like Annie and Janie, the pair are currently staying at the Lawrence Humane Society in Lawrence, KS, and must be adopted together. Mice need love and companionship too, people!

Here’s Cindy’s listing:

Cindy and her pal Ella are beautiful albino mice. Cindy has a lot of energy she can be a calm girl. She loves to be held and pet behind the ears.

Cindy and Ella are the best of friends and it would be fantastic if they were adopted together.

There is a $10 adoption fee for Cindy.

And Ella’s:

Ella and her pal Cindy are beautiful albino mice. Ella has a lot of energy and could do with more attention and love. Once once you’ve caught her, she loves to be held and pet behind the ears.

Ella and Cindy are the best of friends and it would be fantastic if they were adopted together.

There is a $10 adoption fee for Ella.

If you’re interested in these sweet lil’ girls, get in touch with the Lawrence Humane Society today!

And, for all you rodent haters out there, behold this CAT LOVES RAT! cuteness and see if your heart doesn’t just melt like margarine…

Featured Adoptables: Marvin the Orange Tabby II

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Update, 4/8/09: Great news – Marvin has been adopted!

null

Prior to hitting Petfinder in search of this week’s Featured Adoptable, I went through the old posts in order to check for adoption updates. A few more cats and dogs have been adopted in the two weeks since I last checked, including Marvin, an orange tabby from Spay & Neuter Kansas City. He’d come to the group with his momma, Sabrina, and unfortunately the two weren’t adopted as a pair. Miss Sabrina is still available. Sad, but not uncommon.

Well, once I’d finished, I went on over to Petfinder, plugged in my search terms, and lo and behold! – found another Marvin, right there on the first page of the results! This new Marvin, Marvin II we’ll call him, looks like baby Marvin, but all grown up. Marvin II is a big boy, almost two years old.

Here’s what Blue Skye Adoptions in Olathe, KS has to say about him:

Marvin a big, solid, loving orange boy! He and his mother were abandoned in an apartment building when Marvin was a kitten, so he was somewhat lacking in social skills for awhile. Unfortunately, due to that, he didn’t get adopted when he was a cute little orange guy.

Now, he’s a cute BIG ORANGE GUY, and his social skills have greatly improved, although he’s still a bit wary around strangers and it would probably be best if Marvin was adopted by someone who has had cats before and understands thems.

Marvin has a dog-like personality. He greets you at the door when you come home, he does give love bites, he likes his tummy rubbed, but he has a tiny little baby kitten voice! He also has a carbohydrate addiction and no loaves of bread are really safe around him (especially at night)!

Marvin would be fine as an only cat, or with another cat.

Marvin’s birthdate is estimated at 2/18/07. Marvin’s adoption fee is $50.

All of our animals are spayed or neutered, up to date on shots and worming, tested for feline leukemia and treated for fleas and ear mites. They also come with a free well visit with one of our participating vets. We thank these vets for being such a valuable part of our adoption process!

To find out more about Marvin II, check out his Petfinder listing, here.
