KINSHIP CIRCLE PRIMARY – PERMISSION TO CROSS-POST

KINSHIP CIRCLE ANIMAL DISASTER AID NETWORK has been asked by the Iowa Dept. of Agriculture/Veterinary Response Coordinator to support rescue operations for Iowa animal flood victims and send volunteers where needed. If you’ve seen the expanse of Midwest floods in news coverage — you know we have our work cut out for us! We thank KC Primary subscribers for their patience during this time…as we’ve been unable to focus on other campaigns.

Featured Adoptables: Maizie the Rat Terrier

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Update, 10/29/08: Oh, yays! I’m happy to report that Miss Maizie has been adopted! This little lady has been on my mind all summer, in no small part because of her striking resemblance to our own rat terrier girl. Best wishes to Maizie and her new family!

null

OK, OK, so I know I featured a rat terrier just three weeks ago…and I want to mix it up, really I do. But when I stumbled upon dear old Maizie, I just couldn’t resist! You see, she’s the spitting image of my own senior female rat terrier, Kaylee. Seriously, the two could be sisters. (Literally; my Kaylee was found in an abandoned house with two other girls – another of which we also adopted – so we know little-to-nothing of her history, or even her true age for that matter. So she and Maizie could be related, for all we know!)

Let’s do a side-by-side, shall we?

Here’s Maizie:

…and Kaylee:

The spitting image, I say! Except, looks like Maizie’s body has seen better days than Miss Kaylee’s.

Anywho, I would snap this lady up in a second if I didn’t already have my hands full with five little furballs (four of which are rats…rats rock!).

So, back to Miss Maizie. According to her foster people at LL Dog Rescue,

Maizie is a 10 year old, black and white, Senior Rat Terrier that found her way to LL Dog Rescue when her mother moved to a nursing home. Maizie is leash trained and house broken. She has limited sight, so she needs a quiet home.

Greater Kansas City Adoption Only. Fence or enclosed patio required! We will check your vet reference and fence. All our dogs are current on vaccs, HW neg and spayed or neutered.

Please visit our upcoming Adopt-A-Pets at Petco, one block east of 75th & Metcalf in Overland Park from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the following Saturdays:

April 5 & 19
May 3& 17
June 21 only
July 5 & 19

And on the following Sundays:

April 27
May 25
June 22
July 27

See you there!

Please to give Maizie a Happy Tale? (Being a rat terrier and all, she doesn’t have any sort of tail at the moment!)

HSUS: Meet author Jana Kohl and Baby June 25 in Kansas City

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Meet author Jana Kohl and Baby June 25 in Kansas City.

null

Jana Kohl’s new book, A Rare Breed of Love: The True Story of Baby and the Mission She Inspired to Help Dogs Everywhere, will lift the curtain to show the evils of puppy mills. But the book, published by Fireside/Simon & Schuster, is also a celebration of one very small survivor — a three-legged poodle, and former puppy mill breeding dog, named Baby. In addition to important information about puppy mills and adoption, the book is filled with more than 60 heartwarming photos of Baby with some of her high-profile fans, including film and television stars, politicians from both sides of the aisle, sports figures, and cultural icons. And I was honored to write the introduction to the book.

Baby’s Rare Breed of Love Road Trip is visiting more than 20 cities across America to encourage rescue adoptions, raise awareness about puppy mills, and help promote the welfare of all animals. Jana and Baby are coming to your area soon. Please come to meet them at this book signing event.

Rainy Day Books, Inc.
2706 W. 53rd Street
Fairway, KS 66205

Thanks for supporting Jana, Baby, and the animals!

Sincerely,

Wayne Pacelle
