UPDATE, 6/11/08: Isabelle has been adopted!

Greetings, Freecyclers! Our Featured Adoptable this week is Ms. Isabelle, a young female terrier mix (rat or fox, maybe?).

Isabelle is currently staying with Hard Luck Hounds, who says of her,

Isabelle is a very special little girl. In February she had a liter of puppies that have all been adopted into wonderful loving homes. But no such luck for our little Izzy. She is still looking for a home to call her own. Izzy went on a home trial and did very well. She didn’t have any accidents in the house so we believe she may be housetrained. Izzy is a very scared little girl. We don’t know what happened to her but she needs a quiet easy going home that will give her time to come around. She is full of love it just takes her a while to come around. If you think you have the right home for Izzy, please give us a call and come in and meet Izzy.

Each Wednesday, the Kansas City Freecycle blog will feature one adoptable animal from a local KC rescue group or animal shelter.

We do this for several reasons:

- To highlight the plight of companion animals in the Kansas City area.

- To remind members of our no-animal policy, and provide an alternative venue for members who wish to adopt an unwanted animal.

- To encourage members to adopt a furry friend.

- To help out out local animal rescue groups and animal shelters, many of which are overwhelmed by the sheer number of animals in need.

- To illustrate these animals’ unique personalities and characteristics, thus underscoring the fact that they are not objects and should not be “freecycled”.

This is just a note to let y’all know that I’ve been tagging news items, blogs and such with the kcfreecycle delicious account, even though delicious hasn’t posted my daily link roundup here in several days. Update, 6/17/08: Peggy has been adopted! Good luck in your new home, little lady!

Meet Peggy, a wee little Maltese/Poodle mix. Poor Peggy has had more than a few hard knocks in her short eight months:

Peggy is an 8 month old female maltipoo. She was born September 7, 2007. She was turned in to Second Chance after her owners were killed and she was left homeless. Peggy weighs 7 lbs. She has 3 1/2 legs due to a birth defect but it doesn’t bother her at all as she doesn’t know any different. She is a very sweet girl and loves other dogs. She loves to play with toys. She is doing great on her housetraining!
